The controlled assessment for GCSE PE (Edexcel) is a fundamentally important part of a schools GCSE PE programme. Many schools are completing adequate controlled assessments; however there are many simple changes that could be made to the organisation of the day and the practical sessions that would lead to an improvement in learner practical/analysis of performance and PEP marks for each school. Online Twilight Session. Planning great lessons can be a difficult task, especially when you are focusing on ensuring you are effectively incorporating elements such as feedback and questioning. SOLO taxonomy is a method for structuring lessons that helps the process. This session focuses on what SOLO taxonomy is, why you would use it and how to implement it into lessons. It explains the theory behind the taxonomy and how it can be used as a method to designing great GCSE PE theory lessons. The session demonstrates how to use the taxonomy to help structure feedback that sticks, questioning that provokes thinking, differentiation that is simple, challenge that caters for all, and design and support academic writing. Designing a great GCSE theory curriculum

 

Course Information

 
Online Twilight session. The course is aimed at Heads of Departments, subject leaders or curriculum leaders. It looks at everything you will need to design a two/three year GCSE theory curriculum which works. The course will look at a variety of aspects including how to ensure lessons are of a high standard, mapping out the academic years, using cognitive science principles to create a curriculum that sticks, embedding literacy properly, going beyond the specification and analysing curriculum models (threshold concepts and other approaches).
